HYPATIA is a sculptural desk inspired by Hypatia of Alexandria, one of the earliest philosophers and mathematicians, remembered for her independent mind. Its fluid, comma-like leather top traces a continuous curve through the room – a line drawn in thought before it becomes form.
design concept and inspiration
A comma-like leather top on rounded walnut columns
The organic, comma-like top is lined in leather, tracing a single continuous curve. It rests on rounded walnut columns with satinwood drawer fronts, a base that is grounded and architectural while the curve of the top keeps the whole piece light. Its asymmetry introduces a quiet sense of movement. Polished brass handles mark the drawers, keeping the surface clean for focused work or a small meeting.
Made for private studies and executive suites, HYPATIA works as a sculptural centre for a room – a single curved line that gives a space its focus without weighing on it.
