DINING CHAIR
MOOSH Bouclé
The Essence of MOOSH BOUCLÉ
A clear outline and a comfortable, enveloping backrest
MOOSH is a dining chair developed with Ballé Studio, built to bring structure to the foreground. Instead of a concealed base, it rises from a hand-carved wooden pedestal that carries the seat and defines its character.
design concept and inspiration
Structure turned into a hand-carved, visible element
Every base is carved from solid oak or walnut, so the grooves, edges and transitions between planes differ slightly from chair to chair – you can read the gesture of the tool in the surface of the wood. The chair is two clear elements: a textured, conical pedestal and a compact upholstered upper. It rises from this single central volume, with a curved backrest that wraps gently around the body and gives support without bulk. A slim gap between wood and fabric marks where the carved structure meets the upholstery.
In a group, the repeated pedestal bases set a strong rhythm around a table. On its own, MOOSH works almost as a small sculptural object that happens to be comfortable to sit in. Because every base is carved by hand, no two surfaces are alike.
