Her work moved through three phases: Pau-Brasil broke convention with vibrant colour; Antropofagia absorbed global influences into a distinctly Brazilian identity; the Social phase captured everyday dignity with poetic clarity.
design concept and inspiration
The anatomy of an embrace
The TARSILA Armchair meets two references: the earthen grace of the ancient mamoas, and the embrace. Its sweeping curves recall those early contours, extending outward to claim their place in the world.
Like Tarsila’s own canvases, the armchair carries a rhythmic fluidity, joining the avant-garde spirit of modernism with a human tenderness. To sit in it is to be wrapped by its curved arms.
