IDILIA FOLDING SCREEN

The Essence of IDILIA

Lines of light drawn across dark wood

IDILIA is a rare name that carries ideas of idyll, light and calm coastal landscapes, related to names once linked to epithets of Aphrodite and to Mediterranean places bathed in sun. Mamoa reads it as an imagined sea muse: a folding screen that traces shifting lines of light across a deep, wooden surface.

design concept and inspiration

Brass inlays running from one panel to the next

Polished brass inlays run across the ironwood panels, drawing circles, diagonals and intersections that continue from one leaf to the next – as if a single movement of the sea had been paused across several frames. The zigzag profile carries the same sense of motion: the surface advances and recedes, a rhythm of solids and voids that shifts with each point of view. As light touches the brass, warm reflections slide across the dark grain of the wood, while the depth of the timber anchors the piece with weight and presence.

Made for residential and hospitality interiors, IDILIA lets a space be divided without permanent walls. It separates without fully closing, creating intimacy, backdrops and transitional zones in living rooms, suites, lobbies or galleries. Depending on how it is angled and opened, it can frame a seating area, conceal a passage or stand as a graphic focal point in an open-plan layout.
