JESS II takes its name from Jessica, the Shakespeare figure long associated with independence, wit and the courage to choose one’s own direction. It develops the JESS silhouette into a fuller, more expressive form: the same graceful, self-assured character, now with integrated arms.
design concept and inspiration
Integrated arms, for a more enveloping seat
JESS II builds on the same foundation as JESS – the clean, continuous line where backrest and seat meet – but integrated arms extend from the backrest to wrap the sitter in a more enveloping shell. The tall, curved back and the softly splayed timber legs carry over from the original, keeping the two chairs in one family. Where JESS is poised simplicity, JESS II is made for longer, settled meals.
Designed for residential dining and hospitality interiors, JESS II works at the heads of a table or as a statement seat, and pairs with JESS to build a layered composition – JESS around the table, JESS II at the ends.
