AYGUN DINING TABLE

The Essence of AYGUN

The Moonlight

AYGUN is a name of Turkish and Azerbaijani origin meaning “moonlight”, from ay (moon) and gün (day, sun). It carries a calm, luminous presence, one that anchors a space through light. The table draws that into a sculptural piece: a clear glass top like a bright disc, resting on a warm walnut core.

design concept and inspiration

Two opposing walnut cones, carrying a disc of glass

The base is a central pedestal of two opposing cones in walnut veneer: wide at the floor, narrow at the waist, opening again towards the top in a continuous, hourglass movement, the vertical grain drawing the eye upwards. A transparent glass top rests on it, projecting beyond the base for a generous overhang and plenty of legroom, its edge cut on a slope that catches the light around the rim like a fine halo. The clear, floating surface against the warm wood below is the “bright moon” of the name: a luminous plane held by a grounded, natural form.

Designed for dining rooms and hospitality settings, AYGUN brings openness to a room. The pedestal keeps the perimeter free of legs, easy for different chair layouts and for circulation, while the glass top keeps the sculptural base in view and stops the table from dominating the room.
